Back in the mid 90's things were just a little different than they are now. I am referring to Birthday Party planning.
Back in the mid 90's:
*You could call the party place at least two weeks before the party and a spot would be available
*It cost $10 a head minimum 10 kids (siblings not included in the 10)
*Sometimes they would even throw in the cake
Nowadays:
*You have to call & schedule- it seems- more than a month ahead of time
*The cost normally ranges to around OVER $200 and a bit under $300
*Minimum 20 kids-- who in the heck on this Earth knows 20 kids---So if 10 kids show up- it is still the same cost
My baby will turn '2'- she does not care or will even remember if she has a party, but I feel like I should give her a birthday FUN day-- maybe even two or three because she is my baby. It is fun to see the same kids/parents come to each party and watch them interact.
After a small stressful day of planning yesterday- I found the perfect party place at My Gymn. I did have to bump it up to about 3 weeks before her birthday, but I don't think she will care.
Now- in order to feel like I am getting my money's worth-- I must find 20 kids to invite and convince them that this will be the ultimate party & they won't want to miss it.

You know 20 kids when your kid is in school, which is why we waited. In school, you are required to invite the whole class (unless it is all boys or all girls you want to invite), otherwise you can't give out invitations on school grounds. I just feel like it's best to keep it simple. For the little kids, having a lot of people around can be stressful or a special day out with family (to somewhere fun) is just as good as a party. But that's just our experience. The first birthday is different. It's a celebration that you ALL made it through the first year!
true true--- that is why I chose a gym that is in a controlled environment & taught by an instructor. this way the kids are not bombarded by adults but only of little kids. at least i hope it all works out---
When Chloe was little we took her to the very first of those type of parties, BEFORE she ever started school. I guess she was about 2. OMG we had to sneak out mid-party. She was having no part of the the organized activities and had a break down (it was nap time). She did some of the jumping around (this was The Little Gym), but didn't understand getting in a line and waiting. She wasn't used to following a stranger's instructions.
I am hoping in this case- Gia will do what Lexi does-- Gia is such a copy cat to her- it cracks me up!
